Supporting your green initiatives While Hallmark Building Supplies, Inc., is not an expert on green initiatives, we are committed to building our knowledge from various sources, including our association and business partners. Our goal? To serve as your resource so you can make informed decisions and capture “green” business opportunities. Hallmark’s green initiatives To reduce our own ecological footprint, Hallmark has instituted a number of green business practices including: - Recycling samples. We encourage our channel partners and customers to send samples back to Hallmark for recycling to decrease landfill waste and generate some cost saving throughout the channel.
- Recycling office paper, printer cartridges, boxes, soda cans, plastics and glass.
- Reducing paper consumption through internal and external email communications with PDF attachments rather than printed copies, when practical.
- Reducing emissions and gasoline consumption by:
- Hosting online company meetings and training.
- Conducting business by phone versus in-person meetings, whenever reasonable and agreed upon by both parties.
- Managing energy consumption by shutting down computers and printers when not in use.
- Recycling and reusing warehouse skids.
- Offering sustainable products to our partners for their businesses/projects.
Green terms commonly used in the industry Green building: The practice of increasing the efficiency with which buildings use resources – energy, water and materials – while reducing building impacts on human health and the environment throughout the complete building life cycle – from siting, design, construction, operation and maintenance through building removal. Sustainable design: Designing places, products and services in a way that reduces the use of non-renewable resources (thereby reducing waste), minimizes environmental impact and relates people with the natural environment. Sustainability: Meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.
